Financial Focus with Robert

cooperspotQ.  Robert, all the instability in the market has me uneasy.  How do you see the future of the stock market? – Lee in Thomasville

A.  Lee, myself nor anyone else has a crystal ball that can predict the future of the stock market.  We can try to use trends, or look back at historical data to make our choices.  There are very few givens that we can surmise from historical trends, except one, the market will have corrections.  This has been happening since 1895, some are large and some are small, but they do occur.  Today’s market atmosphere is so different than it was in decades past.  Most of the driving forces used to be domestically driven (jobs reports, earnings ratios, climate issues for fruit and produce, etc.).  Today we are in a global economy.  Many things from around the world can have an impact on our domestic markets.  All you have to do is turn on the TV to see exactly what I am talking about.

Having said all this, the only thing I can do as a Financial Advisor is try to limit market loss and maximize market gain.  It sounds incredibly simple, but it can be extremely challenging.  Our clients are as different as any other large group of people.  Some are risk aversive, some are risk takers.  Some have very little to invest while some have millions.  What I am trying to say is that there is not a “miracle” product that works for all.  With a competent Financial Advisor and open lines of communication between the parties, things should work out for you.

Q.  Robert, every year at this time I get bombarded by information about Medicare and Medicare advantage plans.  Which is the best?  – Shirley in High Point

A.  Shirley, I do not think that there is just one product or company better than the other.  Those products change greatly from company to company depending on the county in which you live.  While I personally do not handle these products, I have good people at my office that do.  Give us a call and we will be glad to assist.
