Student Athlete of the Month: Reyniah Taylor

By Montgomery Hedgecock

Whether it is under Friday night lights or on the court, you will find the Glenn varsity cheerleading captain Reyniah Taylor cheering for her bobcats. At a young age, Reyniah found her love for cheerleading while cheering for Upward and the YMCA. She cheered throughout her middle school years and has continued cheering in high school all four years.

Academics are very important to Reyniah and she has elaborate goals for her future. She plans to attend North Carolina A&T State University with a major in biology. After undergraduate school, she hopes to attend UNC Chapel Hill or East Carolina University and go into dentistry. She is well on her way to achieving these goals with a stellar GPA of 4.1 and holding a rigorous workload between classes at Glenn and Forsyth Tech.

Reyniah loves the atmosphere of cheerleading and she says, “I enjoy being able to socialize and have a relationship with girls who share the same love for cheerleading that I have.” She also enjoys competing with her squad each year in Greensboro at the Newbridge Bank Jamboree. “Creating new stunts and cheers constantly while being able to cheer on a team like the Bobcats is really great.”

It is evident that Reyniah cares about her team and shows great leadership skills in and out of cheerleading. She is very proud to be the captain this year and lead the team. Reyniah loves to have that bond with her teammates and enjoys the friendships she has made.

She says, “I am very thankful to God for giving me the ability to cheer and I am also thankful for my parent’s support as well as my coaches and teammates for getting me to where I am today.” Reyniah hopes the season will continue to be a great one and cannot wait for what is in store.
