Eat Healthy, Live Healthy

By Chris Comer

Here we are, one quarter of the way through the year and our New Year’s Resolutions may or may not be complete. If you or someone you know is living or working towards a healthier life, there are many opportunities in our community to help you reach your goals.

One annual opportunity is the Healthy Living Expo for adults living well. For the past 14 years, this event has been called Healthy Active Adults Day. The event has broadened its reach and is now offering seminars and additional screenings that will assist you in living well. We have all heard “eat healthy, live healthy.” Now, with new developments in healthy eating and healthy exercise, information in this area is constantly evolving. One of the resources, “know your numbers,” is an up and coming awareness tool to stay healthy. Your numbers on your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and waist size can assist you in the measurement and direction of your current health, as well as predicting where it is going. At the Expo on April 25, you can find out all three of these numbers for free. There will be many other opportunities at this event as well which are listed below:

• Vendors: There are vendors that can assist you with your posture, shoes, blood screenings, and blood pressure. Anything that will assist you in living well now or in the future is available.

•Healthy food tasting is located at each turn. With all there is to do, you will enjoy a bite of great food as you are visiting each of the vendors.

•Seminars on Essential Oils, healthy snacks, and a healthy bladder are just a few sessions offered at the expo this year.

•Entertainment in the past has been courtesy of our local schools, our YMCA, local businesses, and more. This year is line dancing, a Les Mills® demonstration, and music entertainment from a local school.

•There is no cost for anything.

A collaboration in our community, the Healthy Living Expo for adults living well is sponsored by Novant Health and is an exposition of vendors, seminars, and entertainment. Both gyms at the YMCA will be utilized. There will be entertainment in the front gym with all vendors in the back gym. Please come and find that ONE thing that will make your life better–it could change your life!
