Lives Worth Living

A company’s mission statement puts into words what guides and directs its actions. Keller Williams Realty International (KWRI) mission statement is: “To build careers worth having, businesses worth owning, lives worth living, experiences worth giving, and legacies worth leaving.” The last two phrases, “experiences worth giving, and legacies worth leaving” were added this year. Giving back has always been a part of the KW Culture, and now it has “officially” become part of their mission statement.

The first two phrases, “To build careers worth having, businesses worth owning,” can only be accomplished through exceptional educational tools, systems, and training. Founder Gary Keller explained, “KWRI is a training and coaching company that also happens to be in the business of real estate…That is why a total commitment to training and coaching is at the heart of what sets us apart. We take your career seriously. We do not believe in learning for knowing’s sake; we believe in learning for earning’s sake. That is why no matter where you are in your career–whether you are just starting out, or you are already a power producer–our training curriculum gives you real strategies and tools that you can put into practice immediately.” These are not mere words, but is the heart of the company’s philosophy. Just this year, Training Magazine published their Top 125 training and coaching companies in all industries–and KWRI ranked number 1!

This philosophy is embraced and modeled locally as well and is one of the contributing factors to the Kernersville Market Center’s growth. “What truly attracts agents to our organization is our coaching and training at the local level for all realtors. No matter what level of production–new or very experienced–we have the available tools and training to help any agent grow their business,” said Michelle Amador who has served as the Kernersville Team Leader for the past two years.

“We have taken education to another level with a Master Faculty comprised of our top agents in the Market Center who teach on a regular basis as well as a Productivity Coach that works with our agents one-on-one. Arleen McGinn, one of the premier agents in the Triad for many years, joined us two years ago to implement a Productivity Coaching program. She is sharing her years of experience and knowledge as well as coaching our agents in all aspects of running a successful real estate business. It is a win-win for everyone, a definite “win” for our agents who are learning both business and real estate skills at a high level coming from Arleen’s expertise. That becomes a “win” for our customers and clients when they work with any of our trained and knowledgeable agents,” explained Michelle.

By providing agents with training and coaching opportunities along with the necessary tools and systems to build their career, KWRI has created an unmovable foundation for the entire company–all 153,000 plus agents! This makes KWRI the largest real estate franchise in agent count, and that number continues to grow.

The Kernersville Market Center follows the same path. Starting with five agents in January of 1995, the Market Center has grown to over 200 agents with a goal to employ 250 in 2017. “We have grown from a local Kernersville real estate company to a Triad regional player–closing over 6500 properties in the last five years. Kernersville is the “Heart of the Triad,” and this has been a perfect location for our agents to expand their business base in all directions. We have agents from all parts of the Triad including Walkertown, Asheboro, Oak Ridge, Greensboro, Clemmons, Winston-Salem, and of course Kernersville,” said operating partner, Carol Whicker. “Our High Point location has attracted agents from High Point, Lexington, Thomasville, Trinity, and other surrounding communities. Our agent base actively lists and sell properties throughout the entire Triad.”

Carol added, “In addition to our location, Arleen has taken our training and coaching to a whole new level, and that is such a gift to our agents. Her expertise in real estate is well-known in the industry and she pours this knowledge into our agents. It is almost “plug and play.” Everything is there, and an agent can use as much or as little as they choose. Our master faculty is top-notch and our agent support staff is always available to assist. We are now offering a real estate school for those interested in pursuing a real estate career.” Anyone interested in learning more about the school can call the Market Center at 336.992.0200 or Kelly Anders, the school’s instructor, at 336.992.7639.

As the real estate market is ever evolving, so is technology for the agent and the consumer looking to buy, sell, or invest. KWRI announced in February that they will be investing over 41 million dollars into cutting edge technology for their agents. In turn, the agents will be able to provide a more enhanced online experience for their consumers from start to finish.

The agents’ KW website helps buyers find the perfect home in the perfect location. From condos to vacation land and everything in between, a few quick searches will bring bountiful results. Filters for amenities and lifestyle options will then narrow down those results, so buyers can pinpoint their exact needs. The website also offers a free comparative market analysis of a home’s worth delivered with no obligations.

Michelle explained, “Currently, our agents are sharing their KW mobile app with their clients. No matter where they are, this app finds everything that is for sale in that location. Ideal for house hunting in neighborhoods–and fun to use when traveling. We also provide an app called Homekeepr so our clients have a readily available list of recommended vendors, such as painters, roofers, handyman services, or anyone related to up keeping your home.”

So, what does KW look for in their agents? “We are looking for three things primarily. An agent that has a high degree of integrity; a learning based agent that is comfortable taking their business to the next level; and an agent that fits well in our KW culture of teamwork, giving, and doing the right thing,” added Michelle.

  1. Good article. I have been at KW for four years, after working at two other real estate firms. It is very true that there is training and coaching that has doubled my business since I began at KW.
