KLT’s The Dixie Swim Club opens September 21. This hilarious and touching comedy explores friendships that last forever. Five Southern women, whose connection began many years ago on their college swim team, set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships. Free from husbands, kids, and jobs, they meet at the same beach cottage on North Carolina’s Outer Banks to catch up, laugh, and meddle in each other’s lives, while relying on one another to get through the challenges life flings their way. Truly an incredible show, powered by an amazing cast, this is one KLT production you will not want to miss!

Bah, humbug! Next up is the inspiring holiday masterpiece, A Christmas Carol. This adaptation of Dickens’ classic tale reawakens the true spirit of Christmas in a heart-stirring Carol of profound beauty and redemption. KLT is also excited to announce that this will be the fifth annual “Bring a Book to Life” project. Through donations and community support, students at Kernersville Elementary will be given a copy of the book and free admission to the November show. God bless us, every one!

Harvey takes the stage in February. Elwood P. Dowd insists on including his friend Harvey in all his sister Veta’s social gatherings. Trouble is, Harvey is an imaginary six-and-a-half-foot-tall rabbit. To avoid future embarrassment for her family – and especially for her daughter, Myrtle Mae – Veta decides to have Elwood committed to a sanitarium. When they arrive at the sanitarium, a comedy of errors ensues. An imaginary rabbit can threaten a lot of people. Similarly threatening are those who make the decision to stop worrying about being thought of as smart, and instead be content with the radical choice of just being really nice.

The Tony Award winning Shrek The Musical blazes its way onto the Kernersville stage in June with an unforgettable theatrical experience. Adapted from the hit animated film, the audience follows Shrek, an embittered ogre, and his loyal steed Donkey as they embark on a quest to rescue the beautiful yet temperamental Princess Fiona from a fire breathing, love-sick dragon. Add the diminutive power-hungry Lord Farquaad and a gang of fairytale misfits, and you have got a singing and dancing extravaganza, perfect for an evening of great family fun. There are lively, colorful moments where craziness abounds, and there are touching moments that break your heart. What you will love most about Shrek is the storytelling. It is warm and vital to our times…about acceptance of who and what we are and being just fine with that.

Interested in getting involved with KLT? We are a non-profit, volunteer-driven theatre. Everyone is welcome! In addition to our staged productions, we also need help at community events such as Music at Twilight, Spring Folly, the Kernersville Holiday Parade, projects with Körners Folly, Miss Mary’s Parade, and much more. Not only will you enjoy the fun, social environment with other theatre lovers and supporters but there are also added benefits exclusively for our volunteers.
