It is Christmastime in Kernersville! That means Christmas Around Kernersville, the Christmas Tree lighting in Harmon Park, The Frosty 5K Run, the Kernersville Christmas Parade and the Rotary Pancake Supper all in one weekend!

Saturday, December 7 from 11AM – 6PM come out in support of Small Business Saturday. Kernersville has been chosen as a Small Business Saturday Neighborhood Champion by American Express! Don’t miss all of the fun downtown that day.

Visit the Train Depot beginning at 11AM to pick up your passport. Complete your passport for a chance to win a door prize. This is a great opportunity to find unique gifts for your friends and family! The Kernersville Police Department will be gift-wrapping presents bought from downtown then stop by the Kernersville Museum for hot chocolate.

The Kernersville Christmas Parade is one of our many holiday traditions. This year, due to the time Thanksgiving is scheduled, the parade is being held on Sunday, December 8 along with the Frosty 5K Run and the Rotary Pancake Supper.

Sponsored by Cone Health Kernersville MedCenter, the Kernersville Christmas Parade starts on East Mountain Street at NC Hwy. 66 and travels West along East Mountain Street and then West Mountain Street ending at Kernersville Elementary School. The Grand Marshall and Town elected officials will be riding in cars and trucks provided by Parks Chevrolet.

There are lots of things to see: antique cars, fire trucks, police cars, The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department, Triad Bloodhounds team, local dance groups, professional floats, and Charles Ewing with WGHP Fox 8.

There are also many businesses and groups that create their very own floats. Thousands line the streets with a comfortable chair and their families. We look forward to seeing you there!

The Frosty 5K Run benefits the Rotary Foundation and is always a popular event before the parade. 100 or so runners take to the streets. The crowds from the parade cheer on the runners. What a great atmosphere!

Sign up for the run is online. The race is a certified race! It starts and ends at Fourth of July Park. If you are interested in participating, please sign up online: www.RunSignUp.com, search for Frosty 5K Kernersville. Race registration will begin at 12:30PM the day of the race. Awards are given to the top 3 male and female overall runners and the top 3 in age groups starting at 14 and under, going all the way up to 70 and over.

The Rotary Pancake Supper ends the day with delicious pancakes, sausage, juice, milk and coffee served by the Kernersville Rotary Club at Kernersville Elementary School. Starting at 3:30PM, thousands of pancakes are served to the sound of thousands of people enjoying each other’s company. Tickets for the Pancake Supper are available from any Rotarian or tickets can be purchased at the door for $5 each.

The Pancake Supper proceeds support college scholarships for students at East Forsyth High School, Glenn High School and Forsyth Technical Community College, as well as the annual scholastic banquet honoring 40 top scholars at East Forsyth High School and Glenn High School, Rotary Youth Leadership Camps for local high school students, Interact clubs at East Forsyth High School and Glenn High School students and teachers of the month as well as various contributions to local organizations supporting worthy youth projects.
