Ideas for an Endless Summer

by Heather Wood

Free outdoor movie screenings have become a welcome Kernersville tradition in Harmon Park.  Kernersville Parks and Recreation features popular family-friendly movies that take place at dusk one Friday a month in the park (Rain dates will take place the next night on Saturday).  Dust off those lawn chairs, grab a blanket, and join us for a fun, relaxing night under the stars.  The first movie feature will be “The Ultimate Life” (rated PG), on Friday, May 16.  The “date night” themed movie event will kick off our summer series and will include various food trucks on site, Kona Ice, entertainment, and a collection of antique cars from the local Old Salem Chapter that were featured in the film.

The Piedmont Triad Film Commission helped recruit the production to be filmed in several Piedmont counties, including Forsyth and Rockingham, earlier this year.  The story follows Jason Stevens and his struggle to cope with his seemingly unraveling life.  But when he discovers his late grandfather’s journal, he is transported back into Red Stevens’ incredible rags-to-riches life.  With everything he loves hanging in the balance, Jason hopes he to can discover The Ultimate Life.

Summer Series featured Movies:

Friday, May 16 – The Ultimate Life (Rated PG)

Friday, June 20 – Frozen (Rated PG)

Friday, July 18 – Hook (Rated PG)

Friday, September 19 – Racing Stripes (Rated PG)
