Jump Start the New Year

By Heather Wood Chapman

Happy New Year! May the coming year be full of grand adventures and opportunities. One of our New Year’s resolutions is to continue bringing fun, family-friendly, affordable programs and events to our community! There is no better way to jump start the new year than with us! We have lots of exciting things to look forward to this year.

We are bringing back our Zumba classes and we could not be more excited!! This high-energy class is set to upbeat music and several choreographed dance numbers that may remind you of line dancing. You do not need to be a great dancer to feel welcome in this Zumba class. The classes emphasize moving to music and having a good time, no rhythm required. We would like to welcome, Tiffany Barnes, to our team of instructors. Tiffany is a licensed Zumba instructor, and she loves teaching Zumba classes. When asked why she teaches these classes, Tiffany answered, “The reason is simple: Every class feels like a party!” Registration is now open for Mondays 6:00-7:00PM at the Community Recreation Center. No membership required, monthly and single day classes offered. For more information and to register visit www.kvparks.com.

It is the best time of year to start getting your mind and body balanced. Our Yoga and Barre classes with Ashley will be returning in the New Year! Both classes challenge student’s endurance and balance while growing flexibility and strength. If you have been wanting to try a Barre class but the cost and commitment are too much, join us! For only $20/month or $8/per class, there is absolutely nowhere in this area that can beat that. Ashley is very dedicated and has spent years mastering her techniques. We are partnering again this year with Clink Paint Pop-ups to offer the community a guided painting class. These guys are more than your regular paint + sip, they are the party! From the moment you walk in, they create an experience that you and your friends will never forget. From the instruction to the presentation, they have everything covered. I cannot think of a better partnership. Don’t worry if you are creatively challenged, every art piece turns out so unique and personalized for each individual. Look for the link on our website to join Wednesdays, February 8, March 15, and April 19. All paint nights will be themed for the monthly holiday celebrations.

If you are looking for a workout with a Christian based foundation and focus on community outreach, REFIT is a truly total body workout for your body, mind, and soul. REFIT’s moto is that the heart is more than a muscle. That a person is more than a body. That relationships are as important as results. They believe fitness is not just for the fit…it is for the willing! Our new instructor, Cindy Teague, has been teaching REFIT for four years and is eager to join our team. The REFIT experience combines powerful moves and positive music for a cardio-based workout that is challenging and effective. Throw your doubt and fear to the wind, Cindy will be with you every step of the way. Join us Thursdays from 6:00-7:00PM at the Kernersville Community Recreation Center.
