Junior, Karen Foley has made a name for herself throughout her athletic career at Glenn High School.  Karen plays multiple sports; volleyball, swimming, and softball.  Softball is of key importance for Karen, but so are her academics.  She has verbally committed to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington to play softball and wants to major in Physical Therapy.  The remainder of her Junior and Senior year at Glenn will be focused on raising her GPA and continued training to improve athletically.

Karen has been playing softball since she could walk.  She played Little League baseball from ages three to nine years old, but she truly hit her “homerun” when she chose to play softball.  “My most memorable moment is when I hit my first homerun ever, with a cast on my arm,” explains Karen.

Her heroes and inspirations are at home; “My parents are my true heroes.  They are there for me all the time, and support me all the way, with whatever.”  Karen holds many athletic records at Glenn, but the 4A pitcher of the year is her biggest accomplishment.

Karen is a team leader and handles difficulties with a positive attitude.  “When things aren’t going as planned, or the play doesn’t go down the way we planned, it is hard to continue and to be positive,” she says. But one of her many strategies is to keep moving forward, to stay relaxed and, most importantly, to always have fun.  Upon Karen’s graduation in 2016 she will leave a lasting legacy for others to look up to, but she shares this quote with those that are left behind, “The situation may not be the best, but as long as you keep working and have a positive attitude, things will get better.”
