Celebrating the Holiday’s in Kernersville

Every day is a holiday in Kernersville, but this time of year it really shines! With the decorating of the town and all of the events that are planned you can spend 100% of your time and shopping here, in YourVille. Downtown Kernersville turns into an experience to remember with Blinkie Lights® lining the streets and beautiful decorations everywhere you go.

With the addition of the Kernersville Museum there is plenty be excited about. Kernersville Museum will host a lecture series featuring Ivey Redmon on November 10 from 6:30-7:30 pm in honor of Veterans Day. Ivey will speak about his experiences during World War ll.

If you have ever experienced a book club, you know it is something to enjoy. On November 17 from 6:30 – 7:30 pm the Historical Fiction Book Club, sponsored by Kernersville Museum, will commence with its first meeting. Join us on the 3rd Thursday of each month as we enjoy refreshments and discuss the month’s historical fiction pick! November’s Pick is The Velvet Hours by Alyson Richman. Inspired by the true account of an abandoned Parisian apartment, Alyson Richman brings to life Solange, the young woman forced to leave her fabled grandmother’s legacy behind to save all that she loved.

In collaboration with Downtown Kernersville events, the Museum will be part of the November 25 Holiday Open House from 5:00 -7:00 pm. After a long day of Black Friday shopping, what could be more relaxing than bringing the little ones out to see Santa and Mrs. Claus? Hot Cocoa and cookies will be provided. Come see The Museum as we transform into a magical place to meet Santa and get into the Holiday Spirit.

This Holiday season Körner’s Folly presents the annual event, A Victorian Christmas at Körner’s Folly. For over a century, this unique home has been an enchanting holiday destination. Adorned with period decorations, tours transport you to Jule Körner’s world of Victorian extravagance. Körner’s Folly is transformed for the holidays with floor-to-ceiling garland, lights, and Christmas trees in nearly every room. Tours and special events promise visitors of all age’s holiday cheer and an unforgettable experience!

Be sure to keep Körner’s Folly in mind for unique, local, holiday gifts. Our gift shop carries custom items that reflect local character and history. Many of these wonderful gifts can be purchased at our gift shop in Aunt Dealy’s Cottage during holiday hours. Holiday Hours begin November 25 – December 31. Wednesday – Saturday: 10 am – 5 pm and Sunday: 1 pm – 5 pm. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve the gift shop will have abbreviated hours from 10 am – 2 pm, and will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Holiday tours last approximately 1 hour. Amateur photography is allowed during tours. Visitors must arrive one hour prior to closing each day (4pm). Tour Admission: Adults $10, Children (6-18) $6, Under 6 free.

Kernersville is a nationally recognized Small Business Saturday Champion! Shop Small Saturday, November 26 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm to support local business, and while you are there, stop by Kernersville Museum to get into the Christmas Spirit. The house will be decorated in its Christmas best. Victorian Christmas Villages will be available for a $20 donation to The Museum. Your donation is tax deductible.

Special Events at Körner’s Folly are sure to delight all ages. The Christmas Puppet Show this year is The Night Before Christmas at Körner’s Folly. Shows will take place Friday, December 2 and 9 at 6 pm and Saturday, December 3 at 10 am. Admission is $5 per person. This event frequently sells out, so purchase your tickets in advance by calling 336-996-7922. The Puppet Show is followed by a visit from Santa. So parents, bring your camera for this great photo opportunity!

On December 3, Christmas Around the World takes place in Downtown Kernersville from 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm. This year we have a special treat for everyone in Kernersville. Santa’s workshop will be located in the Train Depot! Come by and see what the Elves have been up to and pick up your Passport for this year’s Christmas Around the World. We will have special activities for children including writing your letter to Santa, guess how many elves we have, and a Christmas themed photo booth! Once you leave The Depot, shop your way through the local businesses and end your afternoon at Kernersville Museum for hot cocoa and cookies. Turn in your passports at The Museum for a chance to win a gift card. Then, be sure you do not miss the tree lighting in Harmon Park at 7 pm.

The Kernersville Christmas Parade is memories in the making. Annually held the first Sunday of December, the parade begins on East Mountain Street and heads west to Kernersville Elementary School. Bundles up the family and grab your spot along the route to enjoy the fun on Sunday, December 4 beginning at 2:30 pm.
