The days of summer are upon us and there is no better way to spend these care-free days than in your town. Kernersville is the best kept secret on any given day of the year. One such secret is Sidewalk Saturdays. These events are a great way to enjoy the beautiful downtown of our community. It takes place every second Saturday of the month starting in June and going until October. Come and spend all day! Whether it is learning about the history, shopping, eating, or exercising there is something to do for everyone.

Starting at 11 a.m., walk the sidewalks of downtown Kernersville to begin shopping all the available sales. It is never too early to get a head start on your Christmas shopping! The sidewalks are filled with beautiful window decorations that allow you to see just what is in store for you when you walk through the door. There are so many things to look at and purchase for those you love.

Also located downtown, you will find the Kernersville Museum sitting on West Mountain Street with exhibits that any age will enjoy. Or visit Körner’s Folly, a magical house built many years ago by our town’s founder. Jules Körner designed, built, and raised his family in it. Now it is a museum you can visit and learn more about our town and the interesting place he called home.

If you are ready for a break, check out some of our parks for a relaxing time with the whole family. With playgrounds, trees and benches, each park is a joy to visit. There may be a pickup flag football game to join in on or even some music by a local group. Soon we will have a park at the corner of Mountain and Main to enjoy as well so keep an eye out for that to open.

Of course, with all this activity, you are going to work up on appetite. Eating in downtown Kernersville offers many tasty options. There is such an assortment of cuisine to choose from.
Cool desserts are everywhere from ice cream, gelato, Italian ice, and more. Cold drinks are plenty in any of our restaurants as well as great food for every palette.

Each Sidewalk Saturday ends with the Classic Car Cruise-In. Bring out your inner car lover and revel over one hundred classic cars right here in Kernersville. Join us for Sidewalk Saturdays-every second Saturday of the month June through October. We can’t wait to see you downtown this summer!
