Bringing Light to Local Businesses

By Molly Smith

We have all heard it a thousand times: these are unprecedented moments we are living in, and the Chamber is no exception. We once talked about the resources we provided to our membership to help them navigate these times and prepare them for the unknowing future, but we have been working on some fun distractions from the unknown as well!

Chamber Spotlight Videos
The Kernersville Chamber has been hard at work with local businesses to set them up as a “Chamber Spotlight.” These five-minute videos are a great way for the community to get to know them, answer some questions about any specials they have going on or market to them. With over ten already filmed and uploaded to Facebook, these videos have been a great opportunity and distraction for your mid-workday viewing. Some include a taekwondo demonstration and class, question and answer session with the business owner, and even receiving a haircut while the hair salons were closed. For more information about our Chamber Spotlight opportunities, please email Andrew Oliver at andrewoliver@kernersvillenc.com.

Women in Business Networking
Our committees have taken no breaks during COVID-19 and are meeting their mission for providing opportunities to our members. The Women in Business committee is in the process of hosting a Pumpkins and Pinot event at a local brewery—a pumpkin painting party with drinks, snacks, and fun with your friends. All of this will be socially distanced, of course, but will still provide attendees the chance to have fun and get creative. Holiday Events
Holiday events look different everywhere. The Chamber takes these events very seriously as they are a large community gathering and part of the traditional Kernersville festivities. Committees have met, precautions are being taken, and creativity is booming to provide Kernersville with a bright and momentous occasion. Be on the lookout for fun twists to some of our favorite events like Downtown Trick or Treat, Kernersville Christmas Parade, and more.

Leadership Kernersville at Camp Hanes
Our Leadership Kernersville class began back in August and they are already experiencing the chance of a lifetime! Socially distanced and every precaution taken, the class participants spent their first day of team building at Camp Hanes doing a ropes course, rock climbing, archery, and learning about their strengths. This event was the perfect way to engage our members while also letting them blow off some steam and staying active.

At the Kernersville Chamber of Commerce, we are doing everything we can to work within the current circumstances and continue to provide our members with great services.
