The Chamber in Springtime

By Molly Smith

Springtime at the Kernersville Chamber of Commerce can mean so many different things, especially after a year like 2020. However, one of our programs has been pushing forward full steam ahead and the participants are loving it!

Our Leadership Kernersville program is a nine-month educational opportunity for emerging leaders or established leaders in our community. Each month features a different topic of each of our town’s many facets: government, education, nonprofits, police, fire, and even healthcare. A committee of extremely dedicated volunteers create an entire day each month for the participants to fully immerse themselves into Kernersville.

“I am most excited to experience all that Kernersville has to offer and meet the amazing leaders that make this town what it is,” says Andrew Oliver, the Director of Engagement and Economic Progress for the Chamber. “This is also a great opportunity for somebody to make friendships and partnerships that will last a lifetime.”

Potential applicants should plan on a full day of activities the second Thursday of the month August-May. Those interested will need to submit an application (available April 1st at www.KernersvilleNC.com) and be prepared for an interview process for selection into the program. The Kernersville Chamber of Commerce strongly encourages anybody who wants to get to know this community in a deeper way to apply to the program.

The Kernersville Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce that they will be planning on a full summer of Music at Twilight hosted at the Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden from May to August!

Music At Twilight has historically been a great way to enjoy the ambiance of the Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden while listening to live music performances and enjoying food and beverages. Due to COVID-19, the 2020 program was canceled in an effort to promote social distancing and stopping the spread. The Chamber and the Garden will be operating under current gathering limits at the Garden and admission to the program will be served on a first-come, first-served basis.

What should you bring to Music At Twilight? Bring foldable chairs and/or blankets and we will provide the setting and the music. Be sure to bring money to purchase food or drinks on location. Sunscreen might also be a good idea!

If you or your family is interested in attending Music At Twilight, please check the Chamber Facebook page and the website (www.KernersvilleNC.com) for more information and updates.
