Christmas in Kernersville – Wonderland of Enchantment!

By Adrienne R. Roethling

This holiday season comes to us as we are all weary from a long year, ready for celebration and an enjoyment of comradery with our fellow citizens. There is no shortage of events this season, and three local organizations are doing their best to provide opportunities for you and your family to celebrate to the fullest this year. Do not miss these amazing events that are sure to dazzle and enchant you!

Kernersville Museum:

Christmas is always a special time at the Kernersville Museum and 2021 promises to bring just as much magic this year. Hometown Christmas turns the historical village at the Museum into a Christmas wonderland. Live Christmas trees are placed throughout the village and adorned with colored lights. Each tree is adopted and decorated by a local family, business, or organization. In the middle of the village, you will find our synthetic ice skating rink and the entire village has white lights hung over everything. You will also find our community wish tree where you can add your Christmas wish to our tree. It is free to visit the village and $5 to skate on our synthetic ice rink. It is an experience that is as beautiful as it is unforgettable. The Hometown Christmas Village opens November 26, 2021 and will be open through January 8, 2022. See our website for ice rink hours at www.KernersvilleMuseum.org. We hope you will join us and make your visit to Kernersville part of your Christmas tradition.

Körner’s Folly:

Körner’s Folly Historic House Museum, known for its whimsical architecture, adds another dimension of enchantment with our annual Victorian Christmas celebration. All twenty-two rooms of the elaborately ornamented circa-1880 house, originally designed to serve as visionary interior designer Jule Körner’s studio and showroom, are decorated from floor to ceiling by staff and local volunteers.

Each year, a different theme is selected to offer visitors something new and never-before-seen. This year, decorators will present their interpretations of “A Victorian Winter Wonderland,” echoing both the indoor and outdoor holiday traditions of this bygone era. Körner’s Folly’s holiday season begins Friday, November 26, and runs through Friday, December 31, 2021.

Christmas by Candlelight, exclusive evening tour events, are sure to enchant as the spectacular decorations shine and the house glows from within. Costumed guides from Kernersville Little Theatre will be stationed throughout the house receiving visitors as well as caroling and reading from Clement C. Moore’s poem, “A Visit from St. Nicholas.” Candlelight events will be held on December 4, 11, and 18 from 5 – 9 p.m. Tickets are available online and on-site.

Körner’s Folly is closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.

Regular Tour Admission: $10 for adults, $6 for children (6-18), Free for 5 and under. Visit KornersFolly.org to purchase tickets online.

Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden:
