A Haunting Good Time

by Heather Chapman

The spooky season is upon us! While the season can be more about treats, we have provided an epic night, just for adults! Friday the 13th falls in October this year and you know what that means… Our Haunted Movie Night just got creepier!

There is just something about this time of year and watching a scary movie outside that only amplifies the experience. It’s dark outside, the natural shadows and noises that come from being in the dark provide the perfect setting for a good scare, so now it’s all about the right movie selection! This year it seemed like an obvious choice. Our featured Haunted Movie will be “Friday the 13th” because who doesn’t love a classic?

The event will be located at, Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex, so be sure to arrive early at 5:30PM and be one of the first 100 people to receive a goody bag! The movie will begin at dusk around 7:30PM. You must be 18+ to attend this FREE event, a photo I.D. is required for entry.

Arrive hungry, as comfort food is just as important on chilly fall evenings. Enjoy one or multiple food trucks options throughout the night: Giannos Pizza, Hot Dog Hideaway, Crazy Dog Mexican Food Truck, Struggle Bus (hot chocolate, apple cider, coffee & more), and D&R Sweet Treats (caramel apples, candy apples, and other desserts).

Commemorative haunted t-shirts ($12/each) will be available for purchase, while supplies last. You can be sure the iconic mask of Jason will be featured on the shirt!

If you require a modification and/or inclusion support to attend this event, please contact Emily Crisco two weeks prior, at 336-564-2241 or email ecrisco@toknc.com for more information.

In continuing to capture the Halloween spirit of the season, we are also looking forward to co-hosting the annual Downtown Trick-or-Treat with the Kernersville Chamber of Commerce, Kernersville Police, and Fire Department! Bring your little ones as local shops and vendors welcome little witches, superheroes, princesses, and goblins. This is a fantastic alternative to the traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating in a safe environment. We hope that you will leave with a bag full of candy, lots of smiles, and that you had tons of fun! This is an event for children 13 years old and younger that are accompanied by an adult. Be sure to stop by Haunted Harmon Park and be greeted by ghost and ghouls. Our staff will be there handing out candy to all the visitors.

This event will be held on Tuesday, October 31 from 6:00 – 8:00pm. The downtown portions of Main Street will be closed at approximately 5:00pm until the end of the event. Please make plans to use alternate routes during this time.
