Christmas in Kernersville

By Ashley Sinclair

It is almost Christmastime in Kernersville! That means Christmas Around Kernersville, Holiday Open House, Christmas Tree Lighting at Town Hall, Blooms to Bells in Downtown Kernersville, and the Kernersville Christmas Parade happening all in one weekend.

Kicking off the holiday season, the Saturday following Thanksgiving, Santa is coming to town for Small Business Saturday! He will be at the Kernersville Museum from 10am to 2pm, so bring the family and take your Christmas family photos and then shop to take advantage of some great sales from our brick and mortars.

The first weekend of December, starting on Saturday, December 2 from 11am to 6pm come out in support of Downtown Kernersville by shopping local and finding the perfect Christmas gift for your loved ones. Also, that day Santa will be making appearances in several shops as he finds the perfect gift for Mrs. Claus. The Kernersville Police Department will be in Downtown participating in several events, come out to say hello and thank you to our local heroes!

The Kernersville Christmas Parade is one of our many holiday traditions. Sponsored by Cone Health Kernersville MedCenter, the Kernersville Christmas Parade starts on East Mountain Street and travels West along East Mountain Street and ending at Kernersville Elementary School. The Grand Marshall and Town elected officials will be riding in cars and trucks provided by Parks Buick GMC Kernersville.

In the parade, there are lots of things to see: antique cars, Kernersville Fire and Rescue Department, and surrounding stations, Kernersville Police Department, The Forsyth County Sherriff’s Department, local dance companies, high school bands, professional floats decorated by local business owners, and several DIY floats as well. Thousands line the streets with their chairs, blankets, and families. We hope to see you there!

Adding to our holiday traditions this year is Blooms to Bells sponsored by Parks Buick GMC Kernersville. Join the Kernersville Chamber and Kernersville Parks and Rec for a Trolley Ride in Downtown Kernersville in celebration of the holiday season on board our Christmas Trolley. Experience the magic of trolley tours, carol singing, photo opportunities, and local shopping.

There are several other Christmas events happening in Kernersville during December. Make sure to check out the Paul J Ciener Botanical Garden, Korner’s Folly, Kernersville Museum, Downtown Kernersville, Rotary of Kernersville, TOK-Parks and Rec, and other local businesses to see their promotions and events happening. This season, think Kernersville first!
