Senior CJ Davis is nearing the end of his high school athletics career at Glenn High School.  For four years, CJ has proven his worth as both a wrestler and a football player.  Whether it is in the classroom, on the field, or on the mats, CJ is always working and improving.  He has been a leader for the football team’s defense and a consistent competitor in the heavyweights division for the wrestling team.

CJ has always loved playing competitive sports.  He has played football since kindergarten and his immense passion for athletic competition comes primarily from his father.  “My dad introduced me to football, and I have loved it ever since.  He was my coach for many years, and taught me a lot about the game.  I look up to my father,” CJ explained. Now CJ plays for his father, who is always in the stands.

Athletes crave victory and great accomplishments, and CJ is no different.  He trains hard to improve in both sports in an effort to help his team and his personal record.  “I feed off of my team and their performances and I like being part of a big team win.  I also enjoy seeing my work pay off through personal accomplishments.  It is great to know when you have actually improved,” CJ said.  His two greatest memories are beating the undefeated Northwest Guilford Vikings in a football game his junior year, and making it to the state wrestling tournament that same year as an individual.

Regardless of his previous successes, CJ is never satisfied.  He is constantly setting the bar higher for himself.  “I want to win states this year, in whatever division I wrestle in.  I will be disappointed if I do not place in the top three.  I have worked really hard at wrestling for four years now, and this is my last chance to win big,” CJ stated.

After graduation, CJ wants to attend either North Carolina A&T or the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to major in Civil Engineering.  If given the chance, CJ will continue with his passion, playing football.
