Wrapping up this Year with a Big Red Bow

By Heather Chapman

It is the most wonderful time of year, and we are delighted to invite you to join us in celebrating the magic of the season! Kernersville truly comes alive during the holidays, so we have assembled a list of 2024 holiday happenings guaranteed to put you in a festive mood!

Experience the wonder and magic of the holiday season in the Town Hall Courtyard during the annual “Christmas Tree Lighting” on Saturday, December 7 at 6:00pm. The evening festivities will begin with free hot chocolate and donuts under the Farmers Market shelter, courtesy of Pierce Jefferson Funeral Home, as well as a kid’s craft activity sponsored by Carolina Core FC Youth! We will have a special performance by Kernersville Dance Company, followed by a musical performance by East Forsyth High School Madrigals and Caprice that will lead up to Santa and Mrs. Claus arriving to light the tree! The Town tree will stay lit through the New Year, so everyone can stop by and enjoy it!

Free parking is available along several side streets and parking lots in Downtown Kernersville. Designated accessible parking will be available in the Town Hall parking lot.

The general public is invited to the new Recreation + Event Center Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 14 from 6:00 – 8:00pm. (Please note the date change). Be the first to take a tour of the facility, and an opportunity to meet with our current staff. Our program instructors will also be on-site for you to get acquainted with them and ask for specific details about their classes. The Kernersville Recreation + Event Center, located at 1020 Shields Road, will officially open its doors for programming on Monday, January 6 at 9:00am. Be on the lookout for our announcement with operational hours coming soon in December!

Kernersville Parks and Recreation offers affordable, family-friendly youth and adult programming. For many years we have wanted to expand our programming offerings but lacked the space to do so. In January 2025, along with our current programs, we will be launching many new opportunities to fill our calendar. We are excited to continue to expand our fitness, youth, and senior classes. Check out a brief description below of each offering. Programs will have their own individual cost to attend, but there will be no membership fee or parking cost associated with program opportunities during the week.
