Elevating the Remodeling Experience

By Kathryn Wisner

Anderson Moore Kitchen & Bath is a local remodeling favorite. They have earned a loyal following for many reasons, but one really stands out: the exceptional experiences that they create along with their exceptional work.

We have all heard about remodeling horror stories, or maybe you have experienced one of your own: contractors not showing up, projects dragging on for months, sloppy work, and/or soaring costs.

When Erik Anderson and Tracy Moore founded Anderson Moore nearly 30 years ago, they set standards on day one to ensure none of their clients ever experienced these types of unpleasant and, in their opinion, inexcusable situations. Their original standards are the same ones that everyone at Anderson Moore follows today. They include, “We respect each other, our clients, and ourselves,” and “We are experts who are always professional.”

These are not just empty words. Just ask any of the clients who have remodeled with Anderson Moore. One client said in a recent review, “They were extremely well-organized and professional.” The client went on to praise the “quality of the experience and the craftsmanship.”

A Culture of Change
Another one of Anderson Moore’s nine standards reflects their dedication to learning: “We are a culture of change, constantly trying new things.” This standard is embraced by everyone at the company, from the designers to Erik and Tracy.

Anderson Moore’s talented, on-staff designers are Virginia Ellis and Chelsea Green. To keep their designs fresh and evolving, Virginia and Chelsea attend shows and research the latest design trends.

Meanwhile, Erik and Tracy regularly meet with other remodelers and attend conferences to get new ideas and information. Erik explains, “We reach out to people in the industry to find out what they are doing well. Then we take this knowledge back to our team, so we can figure out ways that we can change and improve.”

A One-Stop Remodeling Shop
Another reason that clients enjoy working with Anderson Moore is the variety of services they offer. Instead of having to find your own designer, source materials from different suppliers, and coordinate everything with a contractor, you can get all of this taken care of by Anderson Moore. Think of it as a one-stop remodeling shop, providing everything from beautiful designs to impeccable construction.

In their review, one Anderson Moore client wrote, “We chose Anderson Moore primarily because they combined both design services and construction, giving them full responsibility for every aspect of the job. They excelled in both areas.”

A Tried & True Process
Whether you are remodeling a small powder room or an entire wing of your home, Anderson Moore will follow the same 4-step process. This ensures that everyone involved in your project is on the same page and nothing falls through the cracks.

Step one of the process begins with a complimentary project consultation to talk about goals, timing, and budget. While this can be done remotely, clients often come to Anderson Moore’s Design Center, 425 West End Avenue in Winston-Salem, to meet with Erik or another member of his team. The design phase comes next and includes a visit to your home, collaboration with a designer, product selections, initial pricing, and a 3D rendering of your new space.

Step two is when everything gets finalized before construction begins. The final design and product selections are completed, and an itemized list is put together so you are aware of everything that is included in your project. A total project price is developed using industry-specific estimating software and includes everything from fixtures to insulation, so there are no surprises as your project progresses. Once this step is complete and you sign a construction contract, your project will be added to the schedule and work preparations will begin.

Step three starts with a pre-construction meeting with your Anderson Moore team. Everyone reviews the schedule, aligns on the design and product specifications, and agrees on how progress will be measured. Next, materials are ordered and permits are obtained. Plans are made to prep the job site to minimize dust and manage demolition debris. Communication channels are established, so you can receive regular texts or emails with project updates and next steps.

Step four is when the transformation of your space happens. Quality measures are taken continuously along with attention to every last detail. Once the work is done, Anderson Moore will walk you through a “punch list” so that any remaining needs are addressed. Then they will perform a final walk-through to answer any questions you have and make sure you are satisfied.

A Real Point of Difference
Of all the things that Anderson Moore offers clients—from a tried-and-true process to a high level of professionalism—none of it would be possible without the people who work there. This is a group of people who care about the quality of everything they do and also care about the well-being of their clients. It is one of the reasons Anderson Moore was one of the first re-modelers in the country to be designated as a Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist (CAPS). It was important to them to learn how to modify the homes of their older clients, so they could stay in them longer while still feeling comfortable and safe.

Anderson Moore’s caring ways extend to supporting causes within their community and helping others in their industry. Erik has been personally committed to educating people involved in every aspect of remodeling and construction. He teaches dozens of classes a year, so he can share his industry knowledge and experience. Erik also started the non-profit, Job-Site Safety Institute® (JSI), to raise money for research and education dedicated to improving safety and protecting the lives of those working in construction.

The people of Anderson Moore are an impressive group on so many levels. They are delivering beautiful remodels while also helping people in their community and industry.
