LIVING WELL IN KERNERSVILLE
BY CHRIS COMER
The Kernersville Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its annual Healthy Living Expo sponsored by Novant Health on March 18 from 3:00-6:00 PM at the Kernersville Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Novant Health has joined us in the mission to share with you the many different resources that Kernersville offers each of us in our journey to achieve healthier lifestyles.
Come by and be sure to visit the many vendors from the Kernersville area. They are all committed to helping you and your family live your healthiest life. You can expect food samples, giveaways, door prizes and more.
This event has healthy living tips for everybody. We encourage every member of the family to join us, as you are never too young or old to begin a healthy lifestyle.
We would like to thank Kernersville Seventh-day Adventist Church for opening its doors and hosting the event. We encourage families to join us at the end of the busy workday and stop in!
Because we live in such a beautiful state, this Expo is sure to remind you of the many ways you can enjoy a healthy lifestyle here in North Carolina. This event will highlight those fantastic opportunities for you and your family. We have nearby mountains, a bustling downtown, beautiful parks, farm-fresh restaurants, vibrant gyms, helpful recreation centers, various medical facilities, and most importantly, people who care about your well-being. You will find that this Healthy Living Expo is dedicated to you, and it will excite and motivate you to strive for the wellness of mind, body, and spirit.
When the weather is nice picnics are ideal, but we also like to know what restaurants are committed to helping us achieve our lifestyle goals. My Plate® is the current nutrition guide published by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The visual they offer is of a plate and a glass, and they are divided into five sections with appropriate portion sizes for fruits, vegetables, grains, protein, and dairy. These are vital to our daily nutrition, and this Expo will introduce you to some of our local healthy dining options.
Regular sleep is also very important for our health. At times we do not think about rest because we have so much to do. However, it is a proven fact that when we get the rest we need, we will be so much more productive in what we do. So, take a moment to put your feet up and read a good book, enjoy an afternoon nap, or bask in all the beautiful scenery that our state has to offer.
Gayle Miller, a Kernersville resident and participant in the Healthy Living Expo says, “This is always a great event. There are such a variety of vendors. I always gain so much information especially from those that are in Kernersville! I am looking forward to being able to participate with and benefit from opportunities from those that are at the event this year!”
Newcomers to Kernersville, as well as those that are familiar with the event, will have a great opportunity to see what Kernersville has to offer. Our Kernersville community cares for each other, and this is one reason why we continue to thrive and are afforded this amazing opportunity. Why leave Kernersville when everything that is needed for a happier, healthier you is right outside your door?
We look forward to seeing you! Join us on March 18, 3:00-6:00PM at 896 Old Winston Road, Kernersville. If you have any questions, please contact TaylorThornton@KernersvilleNC.com.
