Spring Into Life

You must have noticed by now the days are getting longer and longer which means there is plenty of daylight after you come home from work or school to spend more quality time outdoors. The weather has been glorious, so there really is no excuse not to enjoy some much-needed vitamin D. This truly is a magical time of year, when increasing daylight and warmth from the sun makes everything on earth want to jump for joy!
Each year, families gather for our Movies in the Park, presented by Jeffrey F. Hutchins Law, summer screenings with a family-friendly movie on a huge inflatable screen. Our first FREE film for the season will be the popular, Encanto, and will be held on Friday, May 20 in Harmon Park. Bring lawn chairs and blankets to relax and arrive at 6:30PM to a enjoy Homeslice Pizza and Kona Ice and local vendors before the show. Movies begin at sunset, so movie start times may vary. If you are a fan of our movies, you will also enjoy our Music in the Park, presented by Ledo’s Pizza, concert as well! Come out to enjoy an evening with The Special Occasion Band in Harmon Park with your family and friends on Friday, May 13! While listening to live music, munch on Smokiin’ Mac, Sliders Street Food, and Kona Ice. Each will be onsite for purchase. Please remember to bring your lawn chairs or blankets for seating. This event is FREE and will be held from 6:00 -9:30PM in Harmon Park. Beer and wine will be served in our beer garden.
Kernersville Parks and Recreation is continuing our alliance with High Point Parks and Recreation to offer FishAbilities. Enjoy a day of fishing on Oak Hollow Lake. Adaptive fishing equipment and bait will be provided. This event is free, but registration is required. Do you love shooting a bow? Maybe you have never tried it out but would like to? Join us on Thursday, June 2 from 10:00AM – 12:00PM at Kernersville Community Recreation Center to try it out! Adaptive Archery will provide all people of all abilities, ages 7 and up, the opportunity to learn fundamentals and practice shooting. We will provide everything needed to participate, including adaptive equipment! This event is FREE but registration is required and will open on Monday, May 2 and can be accessed at kvparks.com. We are so excited to offer our first Paint Pop-Up with Clink Paint + Sip. Join us for this fun-filled 2-hour paint night in Harmon Park on Wednesday, May 25 from 6:00-8:00PM! No experience is needed, and all the paint supplies and materials are included for just $35. Complimentary refreshments and snacks will be provided. This is a family-friendly event, and great for all ages. Elementary school age children or below will require one adult companion to assist them with the painting process to ensure all directions are followed.
